Someone had this similar part jury-rigged on the truck.t ordered this new one from eBay.

Do I really need this?

 I like to eliminate anything that I don't need, the truck runs fine there's no check engine light andathis isn't hooked up on the truck right now I'm thinking I don't even need it?

You have it, wire it up.

That's your EGR back pressure sensor. Or feedback sensor some call it. Potato, potatto.
