Hi Guys,
I have a 2011 Ford Ranger, 2WD. 
I am replacing the rotors, brake pads and E-Brake shoes.
Do the e-Brake adjusters go in: 
Nut/adjuster thingy down
Nut/adjuster thingy up
or one up one down...and which one is up?

Hi Naidini welcome to FR!

The part you have in is in the correct spot but...

You have to make certain the star wheel thingy spins inside the tube. The picture is rotated, but the longer portion of the barrel that is on top is static, that star wheel is supposed to turn freely. It's like a screw and the inside of the long barrel is threaded like a long nut. It looks rusted, if it will not turn you need to take it back off and in a vise with pliers you can probably free it up. if you can't get it to twist you must replace it. Sorry if you already knew that I have no idea what level you are at!

SECOND... where are the rest of the parts? The actuator, cable and springs? If it didn't have that you need to obtain it. The assembly is a self adjuster but they rarely work HOWEVER you need the self adjuster in place so when you manually adjust it doesn't go "backwards". The self adjusting mechanism keeps the star wheel from going in the wrong direction.

as long as the star wheel is in front of the access window so you can turn the adjuster from behind the brake drum.... you did it right :)
