Yup our company has a burned out duramax with 320,000 miles we are asking $9200 for and I bet it goes for 8. We could ship it to other states and get more.

diesels are $$$$, 7.3 trucks are going up all over the country.
I paid $3000 for my 97 4 door F350 then spent two years rebuilding it to make it my shop truck

I traded a 99 V10 Lariat F250 straight across for a 01 Excursion 7.3 4x4 Limited with 172K on it

Then I found a 2001 E350 7.3 van with 52K miles on it for $3500 because its a bondo wagon...

Got into the 7.3 game JUST IN TIME the 6.0 and 6.4 truck prices are falling like stones and the 7.3 are rising just as quickly

The truck market here around Spokane craiglist is WAY different then that of places like Denver... clean good trucks are simply still worth more up here it seems

If you build it they will come!! I know this is true I have seen it before.....

Welcome to the NW, that's how it's worked in this corner of the country for decades. Price also goes up come hunting season and winter, including the first snowfall. Price goes down on them if it's standard cab or 2WD, unless it's vintage and standard cab was the only choice.

*Those 6.0's were finicky, if you got a good one it was golden but if you got a bad one, it would prove to be the truck from hell (and then some).

Thanks for the advice, I'm figuring out the NW market as we go. So far I love it, the people are awesome.

I want so much for a 6.0 Excursion. I frequent powerstroke nation while I build up and learn the 7.3. I ended up trading a 99 Sd we flipped for some cash and a wicked 01 dually 6.0L 6 speed... I was just getting ready to tear into it when we sold our house so I had to let it go.
I would LOVE to get a 6.0 Excursion, stock with under 150-180K and bomb proof that SOB myself. Less displacement, twice the power, twice the fuel mileage of a 7.3 SOUNDS GOOD TO ME
Im a big fan of turning something good into something GREAT
I love my 7.3, but the 6.0 Powerstroke in the right hands is a cummins eater

You sold it? I should have sent you a few ranger-forum stickers to go along with it so the new owner could join and say how cool it is to drive it  :)

Did not sell it yet LOL fixing rear bumper and a spot in the carpet, finally getting a windshield then posted back up for sale. We had a bit of flooding here this May, so things were pushed back a bit! Such is life when working on RBV!!!

Rear bumper PITA! I ordered the wrong bumper as it turns out, $98 paint yourself metal bumper for a regular bed. The one i need for stepside is $350+ so instead of doing a return and spending more I am fabbing the bumper
Its almost done
Turned into quite a project

Good idea I will tell him. He is coming back today to finish the deal. He wants us to install a disc brake 8.8 for him and is looking into a 5.0l swap for his wife's 99 SOHC explorer. Another customer is born!
Needs something to drive so he can keep the miles off his beloved 2014 F150 3.5 Eco

LOL
3 rangers in the cue, we crushed the red 07 yesterday, rolled 05 is up for dismantle next. Have the 94 out front to begin repairs on her and then finally another 99 to build up. 94 is a 4.0L 5 speed 4x4 with 160 on it, stopped running for the guy, poor kid it was bad battery terminals. Have a 99 3.0L truck that needs a v8 good body everything else trashed. plus tomorrow we close on our first rental property here, we have become land lords and are also flipping houses here......it never ends!
My 97 F350 needs interior work, the 01 Van needs a torque converter and my bronco II has some rust I need to tackle..... long summer days!
Oh and my parents are moving here now too they close on their new place in July. I have made 11 trips to and from Colorado now towing big trailers... one more trip to go. There is a 2001 sport trac in CO waiting for me to go get....

Help!!!

Thank you for inviting 410customs!!!

Seems like most of us here see the ranger as a fun affordable platform to build and personalize. I'm also hearing a bunch of contributors reside near the north west..... whens our first ranger meet?....FR northwest chapter???? Lol

LETS DO THIS!!
No seriously there is a migration North in this country, we are left no other options. Its getting crowded, hot and dry down south so I went as far north as we could. No regrets!

Rangers have earned my respect and I have always been on a budget.

The V8 Ranger new owner loves it! He bought it to keep the miles off his wicked nice F150 ecoboost. Both trucks are white and sporty. I have been searching for a good low mile 8.8 axle for him to convert to discs and 8.8
Ill post up the build on here, looks like she will be getting some more mods. Another customer is born!

The V8 Ranger is back at the shop
I am swapping the stock 99 V6 rear axle for a Explorer 31 spline disc brake unit.

Also has exhaust leak at the collector on passenger side. I have a trick to seal these up as well.

I will post some pics after today's work

I know I'm imposing, sorry. If that trucks still in your shop could you get a clip of the exhaust. Every since we talked about duals and you explained what you do for exhaust I'm curious how it sounds with the V8. Dustin did this clip for his mustang's exhaust and it's a pretty good sound sample. Thanks.

Btw Im done with my house remodel for a while and have started saving up to bring my truck to you. I also booked a side job this weekend. Neighbors noticed I was finished so now I get to work on their stuff. So things are still heading in your direction. Lol. I cant wait!!!!

This truck sounds pretty dang good for what it is. I can do my best to get a sound clip
This truck has a Y pipe I built pushing the two stock downpipes into a single flowmaster 2.5" system
It is not the ideal setup for a 5.0
I like to use a dual inlet single outlet muffler not a Y pipe. But I had the Flowmaster system already in the shop and wanted to use it. I would rather the muffler scavenge both exhaust banks together then a Y pipe but I will admit this truck sounds great! It has stock cast manifolds, stock downpipes with both primary cat converters and then the Y pipe into the flowmaster.

The rear axle is in and finished, we are waiting on the rear driveline to come back from the shop, I found it was 1.5" too short and it is now being corrected. Somewhere between my shop and the driveline shop the math got screwed up they are making it right.

I will post pics and sound today!

I am excited to help you with your build! I know how it goes with neighbors, we have been building lots of things here and processing firewood, winter is coming. We have been in Idaho for 9 months, so far so great!

8.8 install, 2000 Ford Explorer V8 AWD 151K mile donor with newer rear rotors and pads
Neglected oil seals and E brake
So we fixed it.
Smoothed the tubes with a plasma cutter and grinder and set it up with some new spring perches, massive U bolts, the stock ranger shock tabs and modified explorer U bolt plates.
New wheel seals, new e brake shoes, new 75W-140 w friction modifier and this 31 spline disc brake 8.8 is ready done
3.73 limited slip

Factory ranger sway bar is retained with larger tube 8.8 and the explorer brake line and E brake cables are re used with the ranger intermediate cable
Done deal, ready for battle
I swear my Hobart 240v  mig welder works better with the generator then it ever did with "shore power"

I thought my 07 sport came with the 31 spline 8.8. Am I wrong? Is there a code for this on my door? If I'm right, can the disc brake conversion be done without using an explore housing?

As far as I know the rangers all had a small tube 8.8 even with disc brakes, they are still 28 spline axles and the smaller diameter tubes.

All 95-01 Explorer have 31 spline and disc brakes
All 5.0 V8's are 3.73 limited slip
Some sports and some SOHC engines had 4.10

Rangers have either a 7.5 rear axle for the 4 banger, all V6 trucks had the 8.8 none of them ever had a 31 spline 8.8 not even 2011

OK we need some checking on this, because I trust the source that says there is a 31 spline 8.8 and I trust the source that says there is not a 31 spline 8.8.

I plan on putting up articles this fall with some of the info we are gathering, but I really want it to be dead accurate so we can be a reliable resource.

I am pretty sure the 31 spline 8.8 exists in a stock ranger but have not determined if it is a "big tube" meaning is the housing the same diameter as what the explorer housing is.

Dealer options were sometimes vague. I remember back in the early sunroof days I actually knew a guy that worked at a place in Michigan that dealers would send the car to if the customer ordered a sun roof. Brand new cars from the dealer.

SO on the build list there would be nothing about a sun roof but the owner is sure they got a sun roof when they bought the car new. Both would be true.

Perhaps the same thing was happening with rear ends.

One of the members here has a manual shift transfer case. I have never heard of one on a ranger unless it was installed by an enthusiast. I have reached a dead end on that because alldata does not show a ranger with a manual transfer case. Maybe I just are green on using alldata or maybe it should be called somedata.
