Dang I have Ranger fever badly. There's a 3 strike Ranger for sale in my town, body looks super. The 3 strikes: Red, Steppie, 3.0. The 3.0 is bruised and leaking water, they are selling for 1K but it is super otherwise and driveable to home at least. Auto, 4WD, power stuff (windows, mirrors which I need).

I would own a junk yard if I could and fill it with Rangers.

You can park them all at my place, I have dedicated 2 acres to ranger storage

I WISH I had the cash flow right now too! All of my ranger $$$ is out (invested) and there are (of course) some wicked deals on the local craigslist!
I have to stop myself from looking at CL or I will get upset.
There are at least 3 rangers I would buy right now including a perfect 05 4 door 4.0 4x4 two owner needs a engine at 150K!!

Living here in Idaho for two years now I have discovered things work a little differently , right before the snow comes people try to dump their unwanted or projects, so the deals on RBV are happening NOW! and I have no $$$$ to go buy them! The wife will remind me happily that I cannot buy any more until I pay back the kitty $$$$ and everyone is so busy (me) working on firewood, their own junk, and other projects that I am not making money as fast as I am spending it.

Isnt that great!! No....its not

I just hope they are still there in the spring!!

I feel your pain
I have storage yard, empty trailer and a tow truck! please send $$$$

LOL I had to google that then remembered when I read it. "deflate gate" I'm not a huge football fan so I took that initially way different than you meant it.

Looks good, in good shape.
What year ?

The extended cabs tend to ride better than my Reg Cab, short WB.

Now is a good time for a 2.9L Cummins Swap, in that Ex-Cab RED Ranger... !

the 2.8L cummins repower? That thing is so much $$$$$$$$

BT4 is still the best conversion IMO the BT4 aftermarket support is where its at! That new cummins 2.8 has so much emissions stuff and when we asked them at Sema 2 years ago about a bigger turbo and making more power from it they scoffed at us, "that is not what this was designed for".....well F you too buddy!! Its like if you dont have an old Land Rover or FJ with the original 4 banger they dont want to talk to you......

Im still bitter at Cummins for that they treated my buddy Brett like garbage when he was asking questions
Plus for the $$$$ you can build a nice BT4 AND transmission, turbo and all the plumbing and still have $$$ left over for tires

The BT4, like its big brother, was always the loudest of the bunch, how does the 2.8 sound ?

I thought the new Cummins was easily modifiable... wrong again !

The one things I REALLY like about this truck are the tail lights, they are segmented, the directionals are on the top, VISABLE, and there is no saying I didn't see the turn signal.
I modified my tail but had to change the backup lights to directions and add new backup lights.

JAMMAN did you change your mine and buy it ?

Its a cummins turbo diesel
It can be modified = bigger turbo and more fuel
But the price and their attitude = me like "meh"

Still available. If my son was interested I would have bought it for him, he likes red better than green, but he wasn't excited when I showed it to him so oh well.

I guess what you mean is, "It is as noisy as any of the old Diesel" !
That's my problem, I want a nice quiet engine, like the newer Diesels... and from what I have heard the 2.8 is quiet !
I did read somewhere, that there is a quieting kit for the 4BT, did you ever hear that ?

Funny how kids respond to used vehicles.  A car was a car when I was in High School, it got me to and from Schools, Dates, and the Drags, so it was the best thing  I could have bought... MYSELF !

My daughter got in the Honor Society her Junior Year of High School, I had promised her a car if she did.
We went looking for vehicles and thank God, she was more interested in what it looked like than the actual year.  We came across a two year old VW, Jetta, she referred to as, "Gretta the Jetta", and we bought it.  She had it for three year, chose a college close to home, and decided the streets of Boston was not the place to be driving.  Gretta got sold and the money, which wasn't much, got put in the new car fund.

The vehicle was nice, small and went way to fast for my liking, and I was lucky, she liked it, and it was Green, that's what made me think of it !
Your son should be happy with A CAR !  Any CAR is better than NO CAR !  Maybe he want you truck instead !  LoL !

Good Luck on that !

It would make it to Kroger and back from your house, just keep some anti freeze on hand.

I did a drive by and looked at it. I am amazed it has not sold. It looks better than the pic.

Okay, found the truck on CL.  Is that some rust I see on the RH cab corner, or just a shadow?  The interior is pretty dirty, but would probably clean up okay.  Damn, I'm tempted.

Probably the "losing coolant" is scaring buyers away.  Bet I could snag that for $750.

I wonder what the chances are that it is just a blown head gasket?

My guess would be the front timing cover gasket, behind the water pump. That was NoPowers leak. It leaks between the cover & block on pass. side. Felpro makes a nice complete seal kit for it. Very common on the 3.0.

Mine is leaking there right now. Gonna get some parts and fix it... most likely around Thanksgiving holiday. It's not leaking real bad, just enough to make a spot on the driveway, which I'm not happy about.

The Felpro kit has all gaskets and timing cover crank seal and new sleeve to go over crank pulley, because the old seal puts a groove on it. That kit was about 70.00. also includes water pump gasket. Good luck!!

Yeah, I plan to go that route. Timing chain, water pump and all gaskets. Too much work to NOT do it right!
