I was never too impressed with the Vega. I like a few more curves.

200 bhp in a 1700 pound car? That sounds like fun. My Stingray is running just over 400 hp and weighs 3,680 pounds with a full tank of gas. That little MG wins the hp to weight ratio.

I was surprised to find out my Sons Miata (91') weighs in at just over 2100 lbs... I was like Howwwwww?!

Even my 92 Civic Hatch with AC weighed in at 2094lbs stock and there seemed like a lot more car albeit thin-car but more car was there. I still managed to trim that lil bastard down some 260+ lbs which WAS noticeable btw

I had a 72 pinto that my ex girl friends uncles put a 351 V8 with a C6 tranny. They dragged race a pinto of their own back in the 70's. I couldn't drive that thing with out wetting my self.

I think they stopped making Vettes after the '67...  427 anyone !

The Vega, power to weight had a better power band than a Vette, if you could keep it on the road !

Chris, that's a MGBGT... with a V-8 ?  Did someone build it or did they come that way ?

Dyno Don Nicholas tore up the Drag Strip World with one of those, a heavily modified 351 Cleveland though.
Grumpy Jenkins and his 350 Vega couldn't keep up !

351C is a monster motor when it comes to flowing. I can stick most of my hand in the intake port of a 351C head. Had a 2bbl single exhaust 70 cougar xr7 that was a tire killer LOL long live gray smoke.

And I have a 350 in my '74 Stingray that puts out more HP and TQ than the stock '67 427 but it is not stock.  If you want to go Hp to weight ratio the Nova weighed the same as the Vega and could handle a big block in the engine compartment.

A stock 427 in a Vette put out 390-425 HP... NO 350... EVER, put out 390 - 425 HP Stock !

Even the LT1 was only 375, yes a powerful engine, but not 390 plus horse power !

It's an MGB roadster - they did make GTs with V8s but I converted it myself with a Rover (ex Buick) V8 with high compression Vitesse pistons, manifolds & carbs from the factory GT V8,  a five speed manual box and a 3.3 to 1 axle - top speed is  137mph and 0 to 60 in about 6 secs ...- I have owned it since 1977.

This is the engine & box just before i put it in the car:
