This wild story is really making the rounds up here. The title does it no justice, it's what happened that is nothing short of a devine intervention resulting in lives saved.

https://www.krem.com/article/news/he-is-a-hero-armed-civilian-kills-gunman-at-tumwater-walmart/281-565164739

Cliff notes:

*A suspect who injured multiple people while trying to steal their vehicles was fatally shot by an armed civilian in a Walmart parking lot in Tumwater (WA).

*...officers found a 16-year-old girl who was injured during a carjacking.

*......the suspect from the earlier carjacking entered the Walmart store around 5:30 p.m. and fired shots at a display case inside.

*.....suspect proceeded to another driver who resisted a carjacking attempt in WallyWorld parking lot (ie, suspect has demonstrated he'll shoot people, a critical event/legal justification to take out suspect as allowed by WA state law. So for it's looking real, real good for the armed citizen not being charged, IMO)

*.....The suspect then tried to carjack another vehicle ......... were approached by two armed civilians. Other account report three. Nice!

***Nothing is known RE the guy who took out the threat and most likely saved lives.

***Cops haven't said a single word RE the armed citizen doing what the law allows. That was one ballsy citizen and although he,  the road ahead probably will be rough. Cops hate people doing things like this.

the issue they will run into is did the bad guy show intent at the time he was shot. You and I both know full well that if intent is shown, but the suspect retracts, the ability to use deadly force goes away(ie turns and runs)

Laws of the state of WA allow a person to use deadly force not only when they feel that their live is immediate danger, but likewise as far as the life of a person around them. This is why he'll walk, and although I'm not a layer, I've read the RCW's decades ago. A good thing to do, in advance.

Wow great ending to a great story in a state that liberals out weigh conservatives.

Now if the perps dog was injured this might have come out different. That was humor.
