I thought I posted something about this either yesterday or today, but I am not able to locate it so if there is another posting along these lines, this one can be deleted !

I have been asking about this situation for a while now... but it doesn't seem to be a problem for others so I guess it is me !

Here is what goes down !

I get an E-Mail notification from the Site that there is a post on a Thread I have been following... that works great !

I click on the LINK in the E-Mail and I get taken to the post.  That works well enough !

I read the posting and want to quote it, so I click quote, not thinking about a log in, and get another notification that I need to log in to post !  OK I agree with that but I click on the link in the Notification and get taken to a log in screen.  That too is working ok.

Now here is where I think there needs to be some adjustment.

After logging in, and here is where two things happen depending on what is asked for !
I ask to quote the Posting, I am taken to the EDIT Screen, but there is no Quote of the Posting, I need to step back a screen or two and re-click the Quote Button, at this time it goes through, but it should have taken me to the EDIT screen and the Quote should have been there on the screen, waiting for my response.

Now if I just want to post without a Quote, I click on Reply and I get the notification asking to log in, I log in but instead of going to the EDIT screen so I can post a comment, I get taken to the first page of the Thread... WTF, I wanted to post, not skim through the whole post looking for the Post I was responding to... !

I hope this is clear on what to is happening, it is all based logging in after you click on either the Quote or the Reply Buttons.
Some will say, Log In before Posting or Quoting, but when you receive an E-Mail notification and respond to the link, then you wan to comment if you log in as asked to do, the Site should take you to the correct page and for purpose intended, not make you go back through the thread looking for what you wanted to respond to... !

Ok this is getting confusing to me so I will leave it, if anyone understands what I am talking about or knows of this happening to them too, please post something about it.
It may be I am just doing something wrong but if I go to the other Ranger Site I use, if I click on the quote button and it asks for a log in, ok, but then it takes me to the quoted text within the Editor... and/or if just posting I should go to the editor after logging in, I think that is the way it should work, so that is what I am asking for !

Thanks for reading, hope this gets across this time, to me it is aggravating for it not to work like the other sites but maybe it is working as intended.

Sorry if this pisses someone off or it bothers someone but I am posting it either way !

Thanks for reading !

OK I tried to read through that and will again.

I think a lot of us don't experience these problems because.... we stay logged in? By your post you must log out every time you leave the board?

Because if it is logging you out every time that is a different issue, it's kinda designed to be logged in when you visit since it isn't a bank or one of your bills it is just a web site.

I log out every time... I have to ask, why leave yourself open to the internet trash by staying logged in ?

I also log out of the other Ranger site too; without any repercussions !

I was thinking it was just something that got missed when setting things up.

thx for the reply !

Also, can I EDIT the title ?
My typing isn't the best... !

I can edit it what was it supposed to say?

Hey does anyone else log out? (curiosity)

The only time I log out is if I happen to have to log in with someone elses computer. I probably won't receive e-mail on the other persons computer so that doesn't come in to play. It is in the cookie and per device, if you log in on your phone you would have to log in again on your computer.

I clear all of my history and cookies, everything I can clear daily ! Go figure!
But it keeps my machine clean !

If it's my computer then, what can I do...(no staying logged in) but it just doesn't seem like the correct way based on other Ranger Forums.

If there is anything you can do, that's good too !

Thanks for your time and effort !

Same,

forums and specific sites I always do stay logged in. There's very little chance of any "internet-based" intrusions on your computer from the forums.. More than 75 different forums over the last 20+ years, I cant recall ever having an issue.

Im all for muscle memory of recalling things but I visit so many sites...
