An open diff doing a burnout?  I watched it until the bees in the post. I couldn't go any further.

The race is an interesting idea. I think the winner will be in a regular cab with a 4.0L and it will be a matter of surviving. It depends on the length of the course on how it needs to be geared.

By open to the public I'm mean anyone can enter the race. There is a link in the video for the rules. The one I remember is, needs to be a stock engine from the air cleaner to the oil pan. Would be cool to have a forum member in the race. Closest member I can recall is kaylee the ranger gal.

I have the no-cost air box mod and my pre-cats in the Y pipe have been rotorooted. Other than that I am stock. I might have freed up a couple of HP with what I have done but a 4.0L has the HP advantage.

I raced dirt-track in my late teens and early 20's. I had a 66 Mustang and was in the limited 6 cylinder class. It was in a slow class and I learned I was not ready for the modified class. We were hitting the upper 80's on the dirt track and I found out that if I stayed out of trouble I could position myself to place most of the time.

Side by side on a track with old skills running against others that may or may not have track experience would be a challenge. Knowing when to let off/brake to hit the ideal entry point on a turn without somebody running into you will be the challenge in that race.  Then there is the setup of the truck. relocating the battery to the rear of the bed, getting rid of the gas tank/locating a fuel cell at the rear of the bed, and lightening up the front end to get a better weight distribution would be needed. Also lowering and getting the appropriate track tire for that race.  A mid 2000 reg cab with a 4.0L, 5-speed, and 3.55 LS rear properly set up would stand a better chance with someone who was familiar with the track.

I'm fairly confident most of these rangers will be minimally modified. Its more likely the trucks will be junkyard rangers stripped down to be as light as possible. I've watched all the ppv from this YouTube channel and they are competitive but it's always for fun.

You've got till August to get one ready!!!
