I wound up discovering that Google, by default, likes to track the places you frequently go. It didn't seem to record my route to Michigan and back, so it seems the places I only visit regularly. Grocery store, restaurants, your home etc. I personally don't like that, so I did all I could to stop the tracking and clear any data it had on me. I found it rather unsettling, myself; but perhaps I'm just overreacting. It also seemed to keep track of how long you were at said location for, almost plotting a route of your day.  I am paranoid, after all. Might want to take a look to see what they have on you. If you're an apple user you might not have anything significant, but if you're an android user like me.... Well, have a look.

Don't remember how but I turned history off on my phone. The only 2 places it remembers are the ones I enter in the GPS all the time.

Would it stop tracking your locations if you turned your phone off?. Not that I care I do not have a smart phone, but my wife does.

You can pause the tracking and delete all the history it has.

All of the big companies are doing it. Big data means big $$. Understand all your settings, use a VPN, and regularly delete anything they've collected on you...though it's not truly deleted. Remember, if it's free you're the product.

Yeah, I halted it's tracking and told it to delete all of my location history. Whether or not they actually have done that, I don't know. The pessimist in me says they're still doing it, just not showing they are anymore.

I thought I read once that no matter your settings, if you search google maps it records it.

The biggest thing I see, and all of my friends are noticing, is that the microphone is ALWAYS listening. I've had friends never in their life search for a certain thing, but after a conversation about it, it magically appears on their FB timeline or as an AD on Google.

I quit FB and this is one of the many reasons.

I'd believe it. Privacy has become a thing of the past. I'd like to believe that these things would only be used for the best of intentions, but I don't get a warm, cozy feeling from Google tracking the places I go, Alexa or whoever your device of choice is named listening to your conversations, FB gathering your data like ginseng, etc...

I just bombard the data collectors with info or noise. I often leave my phone right next to the speaker on the television when relaxing at home, or right next to the radio when working in the shop.

meta data is everything.. and everything you like, hate, eat, need, buy, go to, look at, visit, look up, take a pic of, google, shop at, mention, even drive past with your wifi or bluetooth on is bought and sold.

I make mention that the 13th amendment didnt bring slavery to an end. It merely gave those people "civil" rights which were inked in by an ACT of congress; to which could also be un-inked as well as they were given [as privileges]. They think they took two steps forward.

Meanwhile all the happy to-do people proud of claiming to be a U.S. Citizen; A.K.A. a 14th amendment citizen, are having your rights pilfered from yourselves and families future generations and are having them SOLD back to you equally as privileges and are so proud of it...

disturbing... Whats more, no one wants to talk about it without getting their asshole tied in a knot because it doesn't correlate with what the average person be-lie-ve's in or thinks they know. Doesn't matter if the information given is straight from a .gov site or otherwise.

 Welcome to prostitution folks..
