Hi Gang,
Thanks for the welcome . . . I've got a clutch problem going on, just posted something there. I've had a '91 long cab, 2.9 stick 4x4 for about 19 years. Great little truck that recently went over 200K mi, it's even pulled a 22' deep V big block on a tandem trailer locally, it was great for around town and launching. A bit scary on freeway bringing the boat home, but locally it did really well.
I've always wanted to put a 302/5.0L in it but haven't seemed to find the time. Still on the want to do list. I've browsed your V8 thread and the most popular seem to be newer models with automatics. There used to be an adapter to hook up to the little mazda 5 speed that Ford used, ubt that seems really weak. Perhaps that's why it's not used anymore . . . Someone at the local yard said said to get the gearbox out of a stick shift F150 with the 4.3(?) V6 and that would work with the 5.0. So, that's my thinking for the future project list. Time may be coming, the little Mazda box is starting to howl.
