Hi I'm new to the forum, found it through RockAuto's monthly newsletter.

I have owned a 99 B2500 SX w/ manual, 2wd. Put 149K miles on it as daily driver until it was totaled when a tree fell on it

Replaced tires, brakes, battery. belt and alternator on the Mazda. That oversize Pinto engine was great  and I was very happy with the dependability the truck delivered.

I have retired now and replace the B2500 with a 2009 Ranger XL Regular Cab with a 2300 and stick. This one had 39K on the odometer when I got it from the second owner last fall. The only modifications on the truck when I got it were a Lear 122 cap, Bilsteen shocks and a set of BFG all weather tires.

I'm impressed with the dual overhead cam 2300. It has slightly more power than the SOHC 2500 making it easier to drive in  highway traffic. It seems to have the punch nessesary to avoid on-ramp drama.

I like the small Rangers because they are so practical. I've had a F-150 and it was great but the little Mazda and my current Ranger fit my needs better, are easy on gas and as handy as a shirt pocket. While I like the looks of the current generation of Rangers, i am sorry to see the industry  turn it's back on small pickups.

I'm interested in trying truck camping in the near future and would like to read posts from others who have experienced using thier truck for the same purpose.

I am glad to have found the forum and want to extend my thanks in advance to the contributors, moderators and administrators that keep it going.

Enjoy your day,
Rick

Hi Rick,

Welcome to F-R! We have at least 2 avid overlander/camper ranger owners here. One actually owns the 12 degrees north place that advertises here and has a really sweet ranger.

Thanks for joining!
