Dig that this forum has this topic, I enjoy seeing others "projects" as well. Been into VW's about 18 years now, have had about 25 different models over the years. Currently I have a 16' 2dr GTI S 6spd manual. It's the perfect car for me, has the things I need and all the crap I don't want (i.e. Sunroof, Driver Assistance :crazy, Navigation). I haven't done anything "performance" wise yet as I'm still under warranty, so I've mostly focused on aesthetics for now. I am very big on OEM+ upgrades as I like the fact it blends seamlessly. So far I have...

FK lowering springs
Euro Sun visors (no airbag labels)
Euro GTI rear low headrest
OEM accessories carbon fiber rear view mirror
Euro Clubsport GTI door panels (Alcantara inserts)
Euro Clubsport Shift knob w/Alcantara boot
Custom OEM Steering wheel half leather half Alcantara
OEM 16' Jetta door check straps (more appropriate door stops)
OEM looking garage door opener made by Double Apex
OEM Chinese market power folding mirrors with puddle lights and dynamic turn signals
OEM 18" Black Pretoria wheels w/17.5mm spacers in rear and 12.5mm in front
OEM Accessories rear center exhaust valance w/ custom exhaust
BEC Replica Golf R headlights w/ 5500K HID kit
OEM LED license plate lights
OEM Euro MK7.5 GTI Dynamic turn tail lights
Euro lower engine cover
VWR R600 intake and silicon turbo pipe
APR coolant hose
Some Carbon accents throughout

Not installed waiting on paint
Euro R-line front bumper w/fog lights
Euro R-line upper grill
Golf R side skirts
Golf R rear Bumper
Reiger front and rear valances

Day I got it, sold my GLI

Current

Hope to get the new bumpers and stuff painted this winter, and looking to get a Stage I tune and upgraded clutch in the spring.

I love watercooled VW's!!

As a kid I loved the vw sand rails and baja beetles, then I had some RC cars that were VW off road cars and I fell in love with off roading!! When I grew up I was way into the rabbit GTI and then the GTI golf I love the little hatch back. I actually got my hands on a 94 golf 2.0 2 door and was building it up when I wrecked it. I could not afford the deductible to get it fixed, instead I traded my dad the wrecked golf which he fixed and sold in exchange for a 1988 Ford Bronco II which I hated!!
two weeks later I was in love with driving the little bronco II and what it could do off the road...the rest is history

I do love me a GTI!! but there is no going back for me, unless you can put 37's under a golf? LOL

Thanks for sharing! Nice car!

time and $$$$ yes anything is possible, the air cooled VW's showed us that...the old bugs will go anywhere and were out in the desert long before the broncos and other 4x4's followed

My first car was a 1976 BMW 2002 tii, I would love to build one of those up someday. Otherwise if a Corrado fell in my lap I would love to build the snot out of one of those too....I love the Corrado very much before that I was all 3 door GTI!!
