I understand this is isn't a ranger related topic, and I understand there could be repercussions, but I need help and Google ain't helping at all. My mom drives a 2000 Chevy Silverado 2wd. The transmission is acting up BAD and I looked to see if it had any trans fluid; it doesn't. I looked underneath the truck, and noticed something that looks very wrong. The attached pictures are underneath the truck, bottom side of the trans. It looks to me that the trans got shifted over or something, or that it's the wrong trans or something else but all the other bolt holes still like up, idk. Please take a look at the pictures and help.

Wow looks twisted. Not a chevy guy but that just looks wrong.

Has it worked fine up till now and how long is that?

Was there a loud noise or perhaps an accident or she did a dukes of hazard move jumping a creek?

Did you put fluid in it? Where the fluid is going might become painfully obvious.

There was a loud pop and we're getting the fluid now. As for it being twisted that was my initial thought, but the other bolt holes are lined up. I know this for certain because the bolts are still in there.

Also can you use any trans fluid or does it have to be what the owners manual says without a doubt

Use whats recommended! Using the wrong trans fluid can kill a trans quickly
Everything in those pictures looks normal thus far
Os this a 5.3 silverado?
Miles?
Maybe time for a trans rebuild, should be the 4l60e depending on the year and engine

Is it v6 cause if I remember right that bolt hole is used on manual bell housings so there's no  Fluid on the stick at all. Dex3 for fluid on that 4l60

It's a 2000 Chevy Silverado rwd, v6, with ~175k miles. And thanks for the input on the fluid. I have generic "multipurpose" trans fluid and wasn't sure if that was right. Thanks everyone
