I know the Ranger has a problem with the Door Window Channels wearing and allowing the Windows to crank up with the front lower than the rear... WHICH in turn allow for air leakage and wind noise.


My question is "Just how the F do I fix it" ?


Problem is when I first take off with the truck I forget about the wind noise I don't bother with pushing back on the window and push it up tight...  when I am at speed I can't fix it !


Anyone have and fix this problem, is or was there a Ford fix for it ?


Will new Window Channels fix it ?



Do Electric Windows have the same problem ?

Maybe I should just buy a new F150... NOT, not even a new car styled Ranger !

I have the same problem on one of mine. Haven't looked at it yet. I can "help it" up and it seals just fine.

Mine too, more of a push back while cranking !

My '88 and '95 didn't have the problem, wonder what changed !

I don't honor about most of those "how to's" sometimes they will replace things that really make no difference and the fix is in the adjustments they would have to had done anyway. I'm going to look at it when I'm in the door replacing the speaker.

Wow, that would be great !

I won't be in my doors for a few months, then I will be attempting the Power Window conversion, makes sense to replace anything that is causing me problems.

I have a problem with the drivers side window on my 2000 when I lower it a little bit & then put it back up the front doesn't come all the way up leaving a small gap at the front. I have to put it all the way down, then put it up & it will be o.k. Once it gets warmer I am going to pull the door panel to check it out. I am thinking loosened up or is out of adjustment.

There are adjustments on the rear tracks.

I haven't opened up my doors yet, so I am writing blind.

I want to do the Power Window Conversion at the same time, waiting to verify !

It sounds like the window regulator is worn or broken. Could be something else but that's a very good possibility. Pull the door panel and inspect it while operating the crank. Should be obvious if it's bad. While you're in there, inspect the vertical tracks for wear, damage or loose retainer bolts.

Replacing the factory regulator requires drilling out the rivets that retain it to the door frame, then reassembling the replacement  regulator using new HD rivets or bolts/lock nuts to retain it.

Note that the Ranger's power window and manual window regulators are NOT the same. Rights and lefts are also different. Factory Ford/Motorcraft regulators are getting scarce but the aftermarket is taking up the slack. I have no experience with the A/M parts but I have my reservations .... 

There are videos on YouTube that show repairs on the Ranger and on the similar F150.

As I said before Bob, I picked up two 2002 Door when I was still in MA.
I will compare the two mechanisms, I will swap over everything I need to but if I knew a head of time what actually causes the misalignment problem I would buy as many new parts that I need.
No need to go through the Manual/Power Window conversion and then have to take it apart again.

Anyone know if the door window/brackets are the same; it would be easier if I didn't have to remove the glass.

Bob, wondering if the motor is up and running ? Don't mean to push, TOO MUCH; I really want to find out how that thing is going to pull !

I was just thinking back on this and my Truck when I first got her, both the Side Windows would crack up slightly off. I noticed my Wife would crank it down and hold the window back, asked her what she was dong and she said she heard wind noise that went away when she push back on the window.
I did the same and the wind noise went away, SOB, should have looked at it a long time ago.

Maybe new parts needed now !

Still looking for a cure before opening up the doors.
