 Well I was at the junk yard today, found a 2001 2.3 duratec. Didn't think much till I got to looking at the truck. It got a/c cruise control and a 5 speed! I thought I'd never find one here! So I started ripping out the complete engine bay harness and ran out of time. I only have to unplug starter, alternator wiring and the crank trigger wire and ALL the wiring from under the hood will be ready to come out. And get the computer out of it. 
 
Before I go back, I got to thinking, do I  need the entire dash harness or just the steering column to add cruise control (did I mention it's also a tilt wheel)? 

Little back story, my 2003 never came from the factory with a/c or cruise control so I would like to add it since it'll cost less than 150 for all the parts. 

Am I over my head?

 Just an opinion form a person who doesn't do many major things to his truck... himself anymore !
Anything is possible, and with time you should be able to get it done, and I would think if you can get all of the harnesses, sensors, attaching harnesses, computers... everything that has any controls for what you want.
I think I would take the tilt wheel too !

I am not the end all of knowledge, but if I got this in my head, I would make sure I got as much of the things I thought necessary before the truck goes to the shredder !   

Good Luck on the project, all the extras will be good to have.

I ended up getting the complete bay harness,  steering column, ecu. They are having a 50% off sale next weekend. I may go and take the entire dash out of it! That is if they don't get shut down to the covid-19...

AND if like me you have been told to stay home for my own good, it would be nice to have the parts hanging around so I could keep busy.

True! This definitely could keep me busy. Now to figure out a way to get to my garage to start my v8 swap...

I know little to nothing about the 2.3 trucks, except Im pretty sure the cruise control wiring is in place already? Every Ranger I have seen has the plug hanging on the passenger side fender, ready to plug into the cruise control unit?
Watching this so I can learn

My 2003 doesn't have a cruise control or low pressure/ a/c clutch wiring. I thought that was weird since it already had the electric fan and high pressure switch.

 @Jamie: my 2003 Edge didn't have cruise... and it wasn't pre-wired for it either.  Had to do it the hard way and robbed the connector and as much wire as I could get and wired it into my truck.

@4.0 Power: the only thing in the cab you would need will be the clockspring and the pods.  Since you got the tilt column, it's already there!
