I was looking for a picture of the front of an explorer 5.0, I have a box full of brackets and had forgotten which ones go to my engine.

So I googled it, found a great picture and downloaded it so I could reference it.

Then I clicked on the pic and it took me to an article on explorer forum from like 2006 loaded there by this guy going by 410Fortune.

Wonder who that is? Seems like he knows his ***t. :-)

Eddie Money sent me a link to a post he came across. Something I had input on back in 1999!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I constantly see pictures I took coming up on other forums, mustang, early bronco, Mazda rx7 forums?? Anyone talking about the explorer 5.0 engine....here comes some of my old pics! LOL

Ive been trying to help people out with their trucks since 1996 or so? Just trying to give back to the community for all the help I have been given!!!!!
What you guys may not know is I also do ATVs, kids ATV, UTV, snowmachines, yard equipment, heavy equipment, and Ford diesel trucks :)
I have build threads all over the interwebz........

If I get this 4.0 switched around, the 3.0 out of my little one and the 5.0 back in there I have a feeling the fever will be ignited again and I will be returned to 20 years old when pulling an engine was more fun than work.

I will have tons of parts to get rid of. I'm thinking of immediately looking for another 3.0 ranger with a blown motor to stuff my good spare in.

Too bad Don didn't keep his.

You got it! Pulling engines is more fun then work........that's what happened to me
25 years of sitting at a desk drawing elevators looking out the window at my truck wishing I was camping/wheeling
So I used the elevator career to further my camping / wheeling experience. Pulling engines is more fun then work!
My back and knees hurt just sitting at this desk and then I get shooting pains up my arms if I have to draw for too many hours (work the mouse and keyboard)
All those body pains go away after a full day or turning wrenches, and I can sleep through the night because my body is tired.

removing 3.0, check can be done before lunch
swap 4.0, check can be done in 3-5 days working slow and refreshing engines
install 5.0 into Jalepeno I would plan a couple of weeks for that one :)
Of course when you try to do all 3 at the same time with elevators, home school, home steading, build a few other trucks, rebuild a few atv engines...... that's when it gets interesting
I do kinda miss having only one truck...the BII used to get all of my attention........

my neighbor bought a 2008 Kawasaki Brute force 750i, it has a low end knock. Guess who is rebuilding the V twin?
I love a good challenge!! This one could be it...the V twin 4 stroke includes the clutches and transmission....... I have the engine out, getting ready to tear it down and split the cases. This is in my spare time, thank GOSH for the information age........although not many good threads complete for doing this engine start to finish.. there will be one now I am about to sign up for Kawi riders forum..........

I remember rebuilding the transmission in my neighbors Honda CT70H when I was 15. I ordered the parts at a honda dealer, stripped it down and put it back together! Wasn't sure of the timing so I had him take it to the dealer to put the chain on since I didn't have a book. The transmission had a stripped gear and was obvious but in my hurry I didn't mark where the chain went before I took it off.

I had a 69 Z50A I tore down on numerous occasions. Loved it. At about 19 I started playing with the big boys, I remember buying a 70 charger for 300, told the guy the truth it could be just a head gasket, could be a cracked head or block.

Turned out to be the gaskets. I put like 40 bucks in gaskets and fluids, traded it for a gob of guitar junk LOL.

I bought a 70 cougar xr7 for 300 also. Smoked like crazy, 351C 2 barrel. Trans started slipping, checked.. fluid was low so I filled it and it went for another 3 days.... fluid low again.
Put it on the hoist to remove the trans, first thing I pulled was the vacuum line off the modulator and oil started pouring out. BINGO. Replaced the modulator, like 14 bucks back then and the whole thing came to life. No smoke except from the rear tires.

Yup entire transmission controlled with vacuum off the manifold on to a 15 dollar part with a diaphragm in it and a rod going to the valve body. Now we have at least 3 sensors and sensors being processed by a computer that senses the sensors LOL.

How much better is it really. Fuel in a carburetor. Spark from a rotating distributor. No cats to clog up. Anyone could work on them. My dad bought a 67 galaxy 500 for $3500 out the door. 50 years later I buy a CRV for $35,000. He was making like 6.50 an hour. That means you would have to make $65 an hour to afford the same car now. I didn't make it to 40.

The world needs to be re booted, must be running windows ME

Tru Dat!  Our CEO just bought his wife a new Highlander.  He said it is just a few dollars less than his mortgage payment every month.  No way I would buy a new car... ever!

I wouldn't, but at least the wife has agreed to keep this one. I did recently fix the air conditioner. I almost posted about it in other projects it was quite a trip.

Jim, that was a common problem with the vacuum modulators going bad & sucking trans fluid out & burning in the engine causing it to smoke.
