Hey everyone! So I am in the steps of refreshing this 5.0 V8 Explorer motor. I am making the 5.0 Ranger my daily once it is done, so I am going to pull the motor and completely refresh/rebuild it.

I found a basic rebuild kit from DNJ Engine Components.
EK4114 is the kit. It is $332.15 for the kit. Bearings, Piston, Rings, Freeze Plugs, and all the gaskets and seals.

I am getting an E303 Cam, billet rollers, a timing gear set, and a high volume oil pump which I personally will be buying individually instead of stock replacements in the kit.

Anyone have any experience with DNJ Engine parts? I can get the same items from my local Advance (heavily discounted. When you're the only girl in town with a Ranger with big baja fenders, you get known pretty well). It would be around $400-$500 (plus I would have to pay Florida tax) for same items.

I am not by any means trying to go cheap. Just wanted to know if anyone has experience.

If you are going that deep into the rebuild...
And down the road may consider a supercharger or turbo you should consider a forged bottom end. Then you can just bolt on your power adders with out a second rebuild.

Better watch out the e303 is the “wrong cam” for a truck since it'll kill some low end power. But it sounds so damn good!
