Went on some back woods roads with a buddy yesterday. On the way back from the hills. I noticed my oil pressure gauge going all out of wack. Turns out there was a bunch if oil all over the front diff and oil pan. Oil lvl was good before the voyage. Didn't hit the little dips we had to crawl through fast or anything, and even left it in 2wd.

That looks nasty. I would top off the oil then use an engine cleaner to remove all the oil. Then run it a few miles to see where it is coming from so I could fix it.

I have a rear main seal that has a slow leak. It is enough to make everything wet but not enough to drip. I wipe everything down during the oil change and I have managed to baby it along for two years. I have lost a half quart of oil the last 3 oil changes between leaks and burning.

Yeah its definitely not a rear main. My father in law and I replaced the clutch two years ago. And I made him do the rear main then. It's a no brainer while you're in there.

Might've punched a hole in the oil filter, bent it a little bit maybe? Not sure. I too would suggest what Tsquare did. Maybe another picture of up underneath looking straight up? Nice truck btw. Which engine? I assume the 2.9 v6, don't believe the 2.3 was available with 4wd.

Thanks, it's the 4.0L. I will be grabbing a pressure washer hosing it down. My father in law picked it up 6 years ago or so needing headgasket. Which turned into new heads due to a crack in one. He basically only used the truck for home depot trips. He bought a 16 f150 platinum 2.7t and I picked it up for a solid $1200.

So the oil pressure sender decided the off road trip was its last day. Luckily it was only 1.5-2qts low when I got home.
