I HAVE A 2003 RANGER 3.0L. WHEN DRIVING AND I TAKE IT OUT OF GEAR TO DOWNSHIFT IT SOMETIMES STAYS AT A HIGH RPM/ ENGINE REV, PUSHING IN THE CLUTCH ORĀ  DOWNSHIFTING DOES NOT CAUSE THE RPM TO GO DOWN. I HAVE TO LEAVE IT IN GEAR UNTIL THE VEH SLOWS DOWN TO A SLOWER MPH BEFORE IT WILL GO BACK TO THE NORMAL RPM/ IDLE

:hi Welcome. Glad you joined us. Have fun and enjoy F-R. When NoPower did that I had to clean the idle control valve. The way I checked mine is when the idle was up, I unpluged the idle control valve. If it drop quickly its your valve. Somrtime cleaning it with carb cleaner will fix it. It gets carbon build up in the valve ports.
