My wife's 99 Explorer Sport 4.0 SOHC & the other 99 Sport we had says low, 4x4 high, & auto. When you leave it in the auto setting it is in 2wd when the wheels sense slippage it automatically engages into 4wd. Jim I used a Explorer radio trim panel & removed the rear wiper switch & the rear defroster switch & moved the 12v outlet to the wiper switch spot & installed the buggman aux light switch in place of the rear defroster switch. He supplies the Ford factory light switch & harness, so once installed it looks like a factory setup.
