OK I am going to create a fake e-mail, and the next fake Ranger ad I see, I'm going to respond to it and post all e-mail correspondence in this thread.

I have always wondered how deep the rabbit hole goes. I am using a temporary e-mail so I can tell if it is selling for spam too.

I will wait for a ranger, it shouldn't take too long maybe a week. I flag about 20 CL ads a day.

Let the fun begin  :)

The thing that worries me is that these scum may be taking pics of trucks and then when they get a "bite" they go and steal the truck to sell to you .... so the poor owner may now get their truck nicked :(

No e-mail back yet. Just wondering the mechanism of the scam since I flag several a day.

Ah, the ad has been removed. I doubt they are going to steal that truck to sell to you. The pictures were very comprehensive, probably borrowed from a dealers ad.

LOL All they are doing if phishing for live email addresses and phone numbers. My number is already published and my email is all over the internet since we are a business, so I just respond to whatever ads I wish.

Flag that SOB!

They are getting smarter and more clever, you can find the phishing fake adds in just about every section of craigslist now, even like heavy equipment and gardening!!

Sometimes they look borderline, like it might be a divorce sale or something I will write on them just in case...more then once we have scored big! Like a 2014 Kawasaki Brute Force 750i with camoplast snow tracks for $3500......my stepson kept the tracks and sold just the ATV for $5500....free tracks and some profit just for having the cash and a trailer.
One of my favorite trucks of all time was my 2000 Mercury Mountaineer Premier V8 AWD with 120K, dude sold it to me with "no oil pressure" for $800. Turned out he pinched the oil pressure wire when he replaced the water pump. We all thought the ad was fake after all 3 of us went after the same truck and weeks went past. Nope, the guy drove a moving truck and only had one night off a week, so he called me said can you come down here and I went and scored it for $800!!! That was like 3 weeks after I wrote him!

You never know...but FLAG the obvious fakes it helps the craigslist community

Was about the same with my sons 02 ranger. Listed as the wrong year, wrong motor, said it had motor problems. I knew from the picture what it really was being vaguely familiar with rangers.

Then his wife couldn't find the title. So I told him if she ever did to text me.

About 4 or 5 weeks later I get a text that she had found the title. I went to look at it, exhaust leak in manifold had burned a spark plug wire. Got it for 500 bucks, less than 140,000 miles 3.0 auto single cab long bed 2wd.

About 3 years later and 2 trips to florida he is still driving it, I ended up with a couple hundred extra in it but it turned out good.

Thought initially it was a scam.

It would seem since I have sent 2 e-mails and have no replies or spam on that account that they are fishing for phone numbers? I'm certainly not going to call them.

This one is funny.  Can't even give this beer away.  He claims the 1 response he has received was someone telling him 'just pour that   out, nobody wants it'

PBR is decent on tap and in a bottle. In a can, it is just above Cooks Goldblume - I goes down better at room temperature.

Always! Theres a beer for every time and place. Lol. I've been seen drinking PBR. Only time I can drink an ice cold beer is if its 90° or better. Otherwise I like the a little warmer.
