Well - they are on the way out for me, close on the heels of Facebook.

Having "updated" their calendar and made it worse than useless I have switched over to Lightning on Thunderbird. I have already killed off my Google mail account and will soon be setting up my own "cloud", so as soon as I find a decent search engine that will actually give me something other than US based results I will chop the last cord with the giant that is Google.

Not sure if it meets the 'other than US based results', but have you tried Duck Duck Go? I gave up Microsoft for Linux long ago, use Firefox over Chrome and Edge, and have never spent a single penny on anything Apple. Have never had a FB or Twitter account and encrypt everything everywhere. These company's get away with what they do because we allow it. If it's free, you're the product.

Lol yes I am trying out Dogpile and DuckDuck at the moment - Dogpile is loaded with ads, so DD is the front runner and more relevant results than Google.

I have hated MS & Windoze since forever and have been on Ubuntu Linux for years, Open/Libre Office plus firefox / thunderbird.

I have to run windoze & IE for testing and it is SOOOO SLOOOW compared with Ubuntu & Firefox.

I have had iPhones & ipads in the past but they have all broken or no longer support apps - total con merchants! I just love my Samsung S6 edge and it talks perfectly with my car head unit  which is more than the iphone did!

The only downside is that you are stuck with Google & Android or Apple & IOS - unless you go back to using the phone plugged into the wall and even then you can't be sure who is listening in!

I use Firefox and Duck Duck Go on both my laptop and my Android.

I flip flop between a Windows 8 laptop with Opera and Duck Duck Go and a Linux Mint box with Firefox.
