Well its a wonder why so many parts options especially ones that equate to better performance or function seem to lack in the Ranger world....  Yet you can find things like these.

Jim, is there a way to code that so it won't even allow you to input a non-HTTPS link? Or disables the post button?

Yes - but you would be really pissed off if you have typed out a long post and then it wouldn't post cos of an http link - that was the way I had originally coded it but Jim had me modify it to just replace the link.

The other alternative I had changed the http link to https and then went off to check whether it existed - trouble was that if it didn't some sites were extremely slow in chucking out the error code.

Disabling the post button is an interesting idea ...

Well, how about instead of that, automagically toss the code tags around the H T T P url?  Then, there would be no error message and the user wouldn't lose their post.

Sorry if I am making more work for you (well, actually, I *AM* making more work for you)! ;)

To be honest.. shy of going all out and advertising for the company itself I tried several ways to post the information all with fail in the links.

Unfortunately FR is the Edsel of forums because the rest of the Web hasn' caught on or refuses to make the move towards HTTPS yet and well, that in itself makes for a lack of fun or interest in a post when the posting materials become more difficult to manipulate than what the post was worth.

Needless to say, I was caught in a "  it all" moment after a long and rough day..

Sorry

Well, if you have had a bad day, perhaps you should consult your doctor.  He could prescribe this to help...
