On another note the buddy that has the 2000 Lightening has a guy in his Lightening club that has decided he needs a more practical truck. I don't have many of the details but it supposedly has about 70k miles, totally stock and in great shape for $10k. I am afraid I might piss off my wife this weekend.
Better info. The truck is a one owner, white, 99 Lightening with 78k miles. It has been sitting for 3 years. An older lady owns it and it was her late husbands truck. Supposedly never raced, bone stock, and he bought it when he retired. It has been garage kept and the paint is very good, no clear coat problems. Interior shows little wear.
The bad: Needs a new battery ($250), tires are flat and dry rotted ($1100), needs brakes ($350), fuel is bad in the tank ($?? remove/clean tank and blow lines back, new fuel filter, injectors serviced), and it is overdue a full fluid service ($175) and tune-up ($50). It will also need to be towed from it's current location.
With the $10k purchase price and the estimated cost of another $2.5k ish to get it back in shape that is less than half of what a similar vintage Lightening with 90 to 130k miles are going for in the southeast. Please somebody talk me out of this.
