With the recent "fall" of photobucket there are hundreds of long running on line forums that have lost the majority of their good tech articles and how-to's because all the images are gone.
Solution?
Please use the ford-rangers.com gallery to store your images.
Using the gallery not only insures that the images will be here as long as FR is, it also preserves the security and speed of the site.

Images linked from non HTTPS sites will break the secure padlock in the address bar.
If the server the remote images are on is having problems, the page here takes longer to load, and needed info or articles will make no sense without the images.

SO........ just say "no" to off site image hosting! Any images displayed on the FR site should come from the same server FR is on.
The gallery can be accessed in any post by clicking on the "Member's Gallery" link under your avatar OR from the "menu" drop down link in the bar at the top of the page under the logo.

If you have any questions about the gallery or its abilities OR why we should use it just ask. We have plenty of space for pictures and have no immediate plans to restrict the amount of pictures that can be loaded into your gallery.

Nice. I used PB for years based on their marketing of being a free 3rd party hosting site. Now they want it's usere to pay something insane like $500 a year for the "free" service.
I'm in the process of re-uploading my images to Google Photo Albums.

Independent, and you can create folders also. If you click on the gallery link under your avatar area it takes you to your gallery if you have one. Clicking on someone elses link takes you to theirs.

There is also a "my photos" link on the general gallery page, or you can click on a letter... if there is more than one member that starts with that letter they will be listed. Click on their name and it takes you to their gallery.

GREAT, that will be a big help. I tried to upload some pics to the gallery & it only let me add one. Every other forum I belong to I have no problem adding pics. Bear with me I am computer stupid. What do I have to do to add them to the gallery?.

Well it depends on the size. I can adjust the parameters to accept bigger pics but some of the routines are to protect the server from using too much of one resource for one thing.

I can't upload more than one at a time over at FRF because of the size of the pic my phone takes. The server will certainly eat one huge one and spit out a smaller one but when it sees a large number of large files it will go "Woah, hold on a minute big fella" (technical server jargon).

Unfortunately due to PHP restrictions NEEDED for smooth server operations, script execution time limits, this is one thing we might have to put up with.

Yes I could increase drastically these limits since I own the server. But if 4 or 5 people are uploading a bunch of huge pictures it could affect things like page translation time.. posting time...

I posted asking a question about pics in another thread. Then I saw this one...

So, I should upload pics directly to this site and not use
vs having a full resolution pic posted (which is how I have to post this pic on RF and FRF).

Hi and welcome!

We are just trying to preserve the "end result" and not necessarily restrict the use of image hosting sites.

Image hosting sites come and go as we have witnessed. When they go so does the pictures. If they are here they are here forever.

Ok.. so where I am lost is HOW do we post the pics in the thread in the order we want to. I uploaded the few I needed into my gallery so i could at least get the jump start on my build pg here. But I dont see how it allows you to put insert them in the post...?

I see the attachments feature, and upon a preview PB does work but I have held back from posting to try to keep in line with the requests of the sites integrity although i for some reason [knock on wood] I havent been affected yet by PB's ransomed photos yet.

So now I have 4 FR tabs open in order to figure this all out.. lol

Would be preferred to upload them to the gallery, but not as critical as tech articles. As long as the image hosting site is HTTPS it will not tip the SSL apple cart.

For tech articles please use the gallery, 3 or 4 years from now there will be a whole new list of image hosting sites and half the existing ones will fold leaving big gaps in forum tutorials.

So what about video by chance . On trs most my build pics went on and saved even wiring diagrams and pin outs over Tapatalk app for my iPhone on there . Should i try to collect them all and put them into my gallery I'd like to post them on my build thread really though .Will there be a function to upload from phone in the posts / threads soon . On the rx7 forum they have a mobile version just for that with options for pic or vid . Of course under s certain size .
