hey, everyone newbie here. newbies to ford in general. my daily is 06 base model i picked up for 3k with 46k original miles. For an odd reason oil pump quit working and my neglect due to 12hr shifts my motor threw a rod. embarrassing for a 38yr old for sure. anyways rebuilt the 3.0l cuz thats all the extra $ i had at the time. that was last june. here we are today a replaced bed off of a 02edge but everything else original. and some upgrades ive been doing. hoping to post more pics soon. she needs a paint job and some beefy suspensions (i want a extended upper control arms) but she is my daily and im from west tennessee and my project is a 92 4dr 4x4 manual as pictured also.

Apparently i need to figure out how to move my cloud storage photos to a jpeg form.

Welcome to FR!

The oil pump in your 3.0 quit working because the cam synch busted. I bet you heard a squeaking noise that sounded like a pulley.

The cam drives the cam synch (it is in the hole the distributor was on older engines) and a hexagon rod goes from the cam synch to the oil pump to drive it.

The crappy thing about that in a 3.0... the engine can still run when the cam synch breaks! If you don't notice the oil pressure gauge drop (most people are staring at the check engine light) it takes like 30 seconds to destroy the entire engine.

I've never snapped one, best thing to do when you get a used one with a 3.0 is replace it for cheap insurance.

That was a great deal, any Ranger with less than 50K miles with any engine for 3k is worth it!

yeah i had no idea what happened until the shop toild me. thing is ive always worked on my own vehicles unless i cant. i have the redneck ingenuity to pull a motor but this was also on my daily. i like to tell new comers into the auto world know your limitations. if you dont mind you truck/car sitting for months then yes by all means grab a manual and get your hands dirty but some dont consider the outside factors when it comes to a project. i dont have a cherry picker therefore best to get my daily back on then road as soon as possible. going to add some photos hopefully they go through.

So, is that two different trucks you got or just the one in the pic? Thought said 4dr but looks like standard cab.
I was gonna say, put a 5.0 in it but that's always my answer. Glad you got her back on the road.

Dave
