Steering Dampener? I don't see what good that will do.
Not steering damper - spring dampers - maybe you call them shock absorbers but the springs absorb the shocks, the spring dampers control the spring action so you don't bounce along the road.
They have seals on the shafts that can squeak - usually a high pitched chirping sound.
