I replaced my 8.8/4.10/non-posi standard rear axle with a 31 spine/large tube from an '02 FX4, and I ran into an interesting situation with shocks. I don't know if there are difference shocks for the standard vs FX4 Rear axles but mine were. The truck rode hard, ok lifted right, not... as it turns out the rear, some how some where needed two different length shocks and I didn't get them from SuperLift and didn't even think of that until I took it to a suspension guy. All I am saying is make sure you get the correct length shocks, I went from a good ride to a Bump Steer demon after the lift and back to a good ride after replacement, all because of the rear shocks. Something to think about !
