 The M231 is definately an interesting piece of kit on the inside. I learned of it from the guy over on Forgotten Weapons. From what he says it's supposed to be used with tracer ammunition (I forget the numerical designation).

Heh, one guy in the comments even said "How to kill an M-16 and resurrect it as an unholy SMG zombie". With some development, the M231 could make a great SMG or PDW, whichever term is most appropriate.
