and it stinks to say good by to the old truck
all sentimentality aside the truck had its own issues that one day would have left me stranded or broke:
- 4.0 V6 with the timing chain rattle - not only at start up but at 2,500-3,000 RPM - i kept it quiet with mobil one full synthetic and lucas full synthetic oil treatment
- rust, rust and more rust - while i had the box off i power washed and painted the frame - but in the last 6 years - every time i crawled under that truck i came out covered in rust - no lie. both pocket doors had rust - the right was shot. i purchased a replacement but didn't have the chance to install it.
every summer i spent two to three weeks on rust repair and touch up - PIA
every year something new would rust off the truck
- it was pig on gas - for such a small light truck you would think it would get better mileage than a full size. nope. i kept up the maintenance on the 4.0 but it was a pig
...but it was a strong truck and if it hadn't been for the roll over i would have kept it on the road for another 5 years
