Never had one that wouldn't come off, although I have ran across a couple of stubborn ones that I had to really work at. Yep I do the same thing. Did that for my STi, our CLK, and when I changed the steering wheel on the ranger to a leather one... no issues or need for a puller. Key point is loosening the bolt but NOT removing it all the way so when it finally gives you don't hit your face with the steering wheel...lol -Nigel
