A buddy of mine got his first pistol 5 months ago and had never fired it. I took him to the range and gave a basic firearms lesson and introduced him to one of the RO's that offers firearms classes. We blew through 600 rounds of ammo between his gun (Glock 17) and mine (Colt 1911 Government 9mm). I brought a variety of ammo to see what worked well with his G17. I had everything from 115 RN TMC, 115 +p RN FMJ, 124 RN FMJ, 124 JHP (non-expanding), 124 JHP (expanding), 125 RN Hi-Tech coated, and 147 FMJ RN sub-sonic. The non-expanding JHP and the 147 FMJ RN were the two most accurate in the G17. He liked the soft recoil of the 147's. BTW: the non-expanding JHP was the most accurate in the 1911 as well and the +P 115RN FMJ a close second.
