Keep in mind, the Sport Trac was Fords Beta test and answer to the the Ford Ranger PX that everyone else in the world carried on.. only difference was they offered a diesel version which here in the states is a weak market unless your in need if a baby Diesel semi truck like duties in a full size. I used to sell cars and trucks. I've done Ford, I started off with Toyota, done Nissan.. they all have pro's and con's and when you do the comparisons many of the importance factors wash out. I still drive my Ranger because even well over the 300k mark, it' never left me stranded and it also serves a major purpose of simplicity.. I just hate the color. I also have a 2013 Nissan Xterra 4x, and it serves other purposes and will likely be a 3rd overlanding rig. I like a toyota tacoma, but I can buy a better loaded full option Tundra fir LESS money. Toyota is purposely driven up their price based upon demand. And I'm not gonna get into the semantics but there' a lot more foreign folk who won' buy anything but a Toyota or a Nissan.. we don' have to point these people out. But if you look at the complaints lists and recalls, granted not all recalls are bad things but Toyota out classes GM in recalls by far because they're saturation in the world market more so than even GM. But like I said they all have issues, even Bently, ferrari, lambos.. high end cars, all have problems.
