The problem with our Rangers is that they do not pass current NHTSA crash requirements. The standard for a truck is high because the weight of the vehicle can almost double with some of the vehicles. The trucks on the bottom end size wise are penalized. I find it stupid there is not a sliding scale for trucks because there is a lot of difference between a Ranger and a F350. Cars are broken up into different classifications but the trucks are not. It is also warped because many trucks are used as passenger vehicles while never carrying a load. A 3500 lb standard cab Ranger with a I-4 2.3L EB would be at 310HP would be a screamer. The V-6 3.5L EB is pushing 365 HP would make a great Lightening model. This is providing the engineering for planting that much HP to the road is also added into the suspension. I am afraid the new Ranger will be a lot like what the Colorado is to the Chevy Silverado. When I see one of the new Chevy's I have to be able to see the badging to know if it the full size truck or the 95% of full size. I see that as a fail. We shall see.
