I proudly run an early 60's Snow Bird (2-stage) model 226, it's been in the family since Feb 1966 and was bought with the house from the original owner who I'd estimate bought it ~1960 - 1962. Starts first or second pull EVERY time after sitting for the summer, made of steel so its almost indestructible, it's simple and straight forward to use/maintain, and has no safety features at all (maybe three sentences covering safety in the three page/six printed sides owners manual :) ). This means that if a person is too dumb to stop and think about what they are doing, too dumb to understand the consequences of poor decisions in advance and they proceeded, they could for example, reach in the chute to unclog it while the engine is running and have an entire hand chopped off in a split second. Good stuff, machines that are so tuff, durable and well built that most of the companies that make them went out of business years ago.
