 My musings are based on long experience with every corner of the venerable 4 pot BMC B series engine and limited experience of the 8 pot buick based 3.5 litre. I am not familiar with the insides of Ford engines so my ramblings may have limited value.

What I do know is that if you can still see the honing marks in the cylinders, then either the engine was put together carefully or recently!
