Spent the day removing gasket residue and cleaning up the parts that will go back on the engine. Tomorrow, I will clean up the heads and replace the valve stem seals (already had them). At that point, I will inspect the valves and check for too tight stems or warped valves. I don't expect to find anything as it was running really good up to the point it started making its own oil. Had one exhaust manifold bolt broken off on each head (one I broke off and one that was broken when I bought it) that took a bit of work to get out. My son (Arctic Wolf 1911) was a huge help on that. His built-in machinist skills are invaluable in times like this! Once I get all that done, I will drain the oil, remove the filter and then remove the oil pan. I want to have a good look at the bottom end to know what I have. We will see how all this goes...
