Mike, that has to be an expansion plug rotted out. That's the only thing on the back of the block. Yeah, it sucks having to drop the trans, but that truck is worth the effort.

Parts are ordered... thank you to Rock Auto! It took me a while to get the order placed because parts were coming from 4 different warehouses. I had to grab different brand parts to get them somewhat coming from the same place. That's the one thing that I dislike about Rock Auto. You have to pay a lot in shipping because parts that go together aren't necessarily in the same warehouse. For example: In order to replace the head gaskets, you also need exhaust gaskets, valve cover gaskets, upper and lower intake gaskets. They don't source from the same warehouse, so you end up paying $11.00 to ship from each warehouse. On this order, I paid almost $30.00 just to ship some light weight parts.
