I work at a place that has a couple printers, I've designed a couple things but have had one printed. A hub cap! I've got aftermarket mustang wheels on my 01 and being a 2WD the bearing grease cap pushed the cap off the center of the special wheels. I designed a deeper one with this website logo on it. We printed one from PLA just to test size. It fit perfectly and of course you can't use PLA for a hubcap (melting point) so we did one from Nylon. BIG MISTAKE. Nylon was so tough out of 3 tries we only got one viable cap (engineering had to add what they called a "raft" to get it to work) and it is impossible to clean up... it eats the sandpaper I was using to smooth it out. Then we hired Tom LOL. Tom has his own setup and took interest in the project so he printed one from ASA which is the nicest yet and I was able to polish it nicely with acetone. THEN I had a bright idea to fill the logo with silver paint and sand the face. Still in the process of doing that LOL as the paint I used (nail polish) seems to contain acetone and I'm having to sand deeper to get it off the face. I would LOVE to post pictures of the project AND my truck since I have done a massive amount of work to it this summer.. but I'm having software and hosting issues. Long story!
