Ranger has been acting up lately, cranks but no start, I've run into the situation in the past where a weak battery would cause this IE cranks fine but no start. I use the battery in the ranger to run a small external water pump to water plants and know how many plants I can water before having to start the truck, let it sit and idle a bit to charge battery and repeat. Anyway recently it stopped igniting so I replaced battery, it didn't help much, it did start but spit and shuddered so I added starting fluid and it ran fine for a few seconds I depressed shrader valve on fuel rail and very little fuel came out I assumed the worst and so I've replaced fuel pump. No difference, starts but spits and shudders, no smooth acceleration when given gas. I'm wondering if it could be fuel filter, I have it off and have blown through it, not difficult to do but I don't know if that is an indicator of anything? I've disconnected fuel delivery line again at the top of the tank, I turn the key on and fuel comes out for a few seconds and then stops I don't know if that helps Any suggestions I can put a filter on it but don't want to keep throwing parts at it If the key is on should I always have a steady stream of fuel coming out of the rail? I don't have a way to test fuel pressure but I'm sure it's probably safe to assume not enough pressure A lot of questions I know Thanks Attachment: image.jpg (Downloaded 9 times) Last edited on Sun May 21st, 2023 12:17 pm by 1930 |
