I have a co-worker friend that uses a gun mount that resides right beneath the steering column. When I questioned him about it, he said he leaves this gun there all the time. I maintain that is a bad idea if you want to maintain ownership of that firearm. All you have to do is look into the vehicle and there it is. I have, on dozens of occasions, disarmed myself due to where I am going (hospital buildings) but the gun and holster are in my center console, out of sight. It isn't the gun mount itself I disapprove of, it is the "in plain sight" aspect. To each their own, so if OP or anyone wants to do this, it is their choice and I would support their decision.
