I could see where having a firearm visible in your vehicle could lead to a door window glass replacement. Where I live, if you leave anything in your vehicle that is worth stealing, you will lose your window and the item(s).
We would "Assume", I know - I know it always backfires on the internet, that the OP is speaking [more] about while they may be traveling around (?), having there firearm attached to a magnetic holster, or some form of clip-type of holstering for quicker & responsive reaction. And without a doubt, but I don't know anyone in at least 2 decades+ that leaves any firearm in a vehicle, let alone not locked down/in it when left in the vehicle if they had to temporarily leave it.
I'll do best to leave personal opinions out of the conversation but personally, not too many places in Nevada you honestly can't carry into, even banks or bars don't pay too much attention, which is comical to me but the Post Office is one that is a No-No. When I am carrying and on a PO run, I will typically duck in for a moment and pull the mag, pocket it, but leave the firearm locked in the vehicle safe.. as I open carry. And when I return, it's returned back to the holster and on with the day
We do use a mount that was specifically designed for the topic at hand, but we have found it useful for MANY other creative things. but examples below were what came to my mind. Ideally, you could have the slide in a top or a side mounted position for what fits the need. Some are probably familiar with quite a few different versions of the magnet mounts.

As for the "clip-style":
Images for reference only, although we do sell the magnet mount for a multitude of many purposes as I stated, we don't offer the clip-style. The magnet mount actually has about 43lbs of weight capabilities, so you can see where that or a pair could come in handy in some creative upfitting purposes. So depending on the letter of the law in Texas, there are minimalist solutions by many companies for the OP to explore.
