Looks like you have to literally destroy it to get it apart, a lot of plastic staking or sonic welding. Since this one works so well I'll exchange with mine and destroy the one I remove.

I did notice at the end of the retract you can wind the spring tighter, I went like 6 turns and didn't hear anything break so there is hope. Basically remove the plastic covers, pull the seat belt all the way out, hold the rotational position with vise grips, push the pin out that holds the belt, wind it as far as it will safely go (keep an eye on the torsion spring) and re insert the belt/pin. Even if the spring were to break any G force 360 degrees will lock the belt. I can't wait to see inside!
