I know a thing or 2 about this subject but I'm stumped on a detail. Internet searches are useless these days unless you are buying something.

If there is a transmitter in the fob there has to be a receiver. The receiver must have some sort of an antenna even if it is a long tracer on the circuit board.

Where is this circuit board? Is it in the GEM? on a 2001.

My specific symptoms are unusual. I have a pile of CR3202 batteries so I know that isn't involved.

When it gets past 80 or so degrees the range of the fob to wherever the receiver is drastically diminishes. To the point I have to hold the fob near the middle of the windshield at the bottom. If it is 90 this still doesn't work and I have to use the key to get in.

BUT.... if it cools down to 70 it works from 30 feet away no problem.

Is it the GEM and does anyone have a clue? I have an electrical diagram... an entire book and I cannot find what receives the signal from the FOB.
