That is the approach we took. There is a contact in the lock cylinder that when grounded by the inserted key, sends a signal to the GEM. We were hoping to use that to do the magic. Problems and concerns such as circuit back-feed, how does that work when the door is open and such as well as how to cancel the interior light request once it occurs were what makes it more of a chore than I first anticipated. Funny how something that is so seemingly simple becomes overly complex...
