This popped up on my subscription feed today.  How did you get the broken bolt out of the bracket?

I didn't... not yet. I only put about 10 miles a week on it at most right now (work from home, usually if I have to take a kid to an activity). so I was going to wait till my friend was available to help me. He's a pro mechanic, but works over road, working on construction equipment (I pay him for his time). so he's really good at this kind of stuff, since he deals with similar crap all the time. But it's holding tight and the belt isn't going anywhere, and that broken bolt sticks up far enough, while it doesn't provide any clamping force, it does keep it square.
