It's funny, since the Backing Plate (BP) holds the E-Brake, that it wouldn't be thickerer ! BP on the front are sometimes left off to reduce debris build up, a stone caught in between the BP and the Rotor can not only create NOISE but cause damage to the rotor. I was going to do an Explorer Brake upgrade to my 31 spline Ranger Axle, until I saw the E-Brake setup, decided OEM was good enough for the little truck ! Ford should have used a standard Caliper with E-Brkae built in !
