@OB: I've never seen a deck done with ceramic tiles, but I HAVE seen just a standard concrete pad overlaid with them. They can look very nice. Composite is pricey, but probably worth it due to low maintenance.
In person I haven't seen it, a couple on some TV shows. It was an entire decking system, looked pretty cool. Mostly if you wanted a look other than the traditional deck look. Seen a fair more with the composite used.
