I have heard a lot about FORScan and how good it is, how deep into the system it lets you go. If I remember correctly it is Ford specific. I never picked it up myself. I have used an app called Torque that works on any brand. Both systems need something else to actually connect to the vehicle. I have used an EP27 module that plugs into the OBD port and connect via Bluetooth. Torque is an app for the phone, not sure if it is available for iphones, and FORScan is a program for you laptop.
