Bolting it on doesn't mean you'll gain power or anything for that matter. In fact, back in the day, Saturn made the Saturn ION in a supercharged form to compete with the Chevy Cavalier SS and K&N actually made a complete CAI intake complete with an ice chamber to cool incoming air even more so. Without other mods and tuning, a good customer back in the day on the dyno showed an actual loss of almost 12hp and 27ft lbs of TQ without any tuning. Once he was able to tweak the piggy back engine management he was able get almost 8.5hp and I can't recall the TQ numbers but it wasn't as high as what was being lost without a tune. Ideally A re-tune should be necessary with any component that could add/take away performance. Intake, fuel, air, exhaust, pully or compressor wheel. etc even just a straightpipe mod.
